Q. Where do the funds raised at Date with a Star go?
A. All money raised at the event supports the Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba,
which in turn helps children and adults with learning disabilities reach their full potential.

Q. What is included with the cost of my ticket?
A. Hors d’oeuvres will be served at the pre-dinner reception and there will be a cash bar. Your
meal will be provided, including a gratuity for the server. You will be responsible for any
alcoholic beverages and in some cases, other non-alcoholic beverages.

Q. Will I need to bring money?
A. During the reception, you may choose to bid on one of our fantastic auction prizes or
purchase a ticket for our Lucky Stars Raffle (every ticket is a winner!). Your support is
greatly appreciated.

Q. What makes Date with a Star different than other fundraising dinners?
A. The evening will begin with a pre-dinner reception at the Delta Winnipeg Hotel. You will
have the chance to mix and mingle with local stars and restaurateurs as well as our
sponsors. After a cocktail hour and the star and restaurant draws, you and your guests will
be treated to a sit-down dinner with a fabulous star at a top local restaurant.

Q. What is a Table Host?
A. A Table Host is the main contact for your group. Normally, the person who purchases the
tickets is considered the table host.

Q. Who are the stars?
A. Our stars are all local Winnipeg celebrities. You can find a complete listing at

Q. At what restaurant will my group dine?
A. We have partnered with over 20 of Winnipeg’s top restaurants. You won’t find out where
you’ll be dining until we reveal the results of our draw at the reception. You can find a

Q. Do I bid on a star?
A. There is no bidding for stars. A draw will take place prior to the event, which will pair your
table with both a local star and a restaurant.

Q. Is there a coat check?
A. A complimentary coat check is provided at the reception.

Q. Where can I park?
A. There are underground parkades at both the Delta Winnipeg Hotel and the Winnipeg
Convention Centre. There are also several outdoor parking lots within two blocks. For more

Q. Do I get a tax receipt?
A. A tax receipt will be issued for 50% of the cost of your dinner ticket. Sponsorships are not
eligible for a tax receipt. If you are one of our sponsors, you will be recognized during the
event as well as on our website and in our event program.

Q. What if I have allergies?
A. Please advise us ahead of time if you have allergies and we will contact the restaurant to let
them know. It is also a good idea to let your server know as soon as you arrive at your
restaurant.

Q. Are there other ways for me to help?
A. There are a number of ways you can help: tell your friends about the great time you had last
year and suggest they participate this year; become one of our sponsors; donate a prize for
our Silent Auction or Lucky Stars Raffle; ask your company to hold a “Casual Friday” in
support of LDA Manitoba; or, become a volunteer.
